What ServerDiff is

ServerDiff compares VPS and cloud servers in data centres worldwide by the bill you will actually pay. For every server it adds up the price after any introductory offer ends, the IPv4 address, setup fees, the traffic you expect and, if you choose, VAT, over the months you plan to keep it. The list is ordered by that bill, under assumptions you can see and change.

You can filter by what your project needs, put two to four servers side by side, and open any server to read every line of its bill. Nothing needs an account.

Who it is for

Developers and small teams who run their own software on a rented server: a Nextcloud for the family, a Docker host for side projects, a database, a game server or a WireGuard VPN. If you are choosing between a handful of providers and want to know what each option costs over a year, before you enter a card number, it is built for you.

What is different

The bill, not the price tag
Advertised prices leave things out. Every charge we know about gets its own line, and the total is the sum of those lines, so you can check it.
Unpublished fees are named
When a provider does not publish a fee, the price says so, for example “Setup fee not published”, instead of treating it as free.
Dated sources
Every price says where it came from and when it was last checked. Prices that go unchecked for too long leave the rankings until someone checks them again.

Independence

No provider can pay for a position, a badge or a review. Some links may earn ServerDiff a commission, as the affiliate disclosure explains; the code that orders the list does not know which ones, and providers without an affiliate programme are listed in exactly the same way. The ranking rule and every calculation are published in the methodology.

Coverage today

ServerDiff lists 2,114 servers from 54 providers. That is a selection, not the whole market; the providers page shows exactly who is covered.

Where the prices come from. 1,541 servers from AWS Lightsail, Microsoft Azure, Vultr, Cherry Servers, Akamai (Linode), phoenixNAP, Scaleway, OVHcloud, BinaryLane, Webdock and Verda have prices read from the providers’ public price APIs (pricing.us-east-1.amazonaws.com, prices.azure.com, api.vultr.com, api.cherryservers.com, api.linode.com, api.phoenixnap.com, api.scaleway.com, eu.api.ovh.com, api.binarylane.com.au, api.webdock.io and api.verda.com). 454 servers from Contabo, BandwagonHost, HostDime, netcup, HostAfrica, Hostwinds, Cloudzy, ServerMania, LayerStack, hosttech, RoseHosting, ScalaHosting, webgo, RackNerd, Locaweb, WinterNode, IONOS, SwissLayer, 1Gbits, Hostinger and Ultahost have prices read from the providers’ own price pages (contabo.com, bandwagonhost.com, hostdime.com, netcup.com, hostafrica.com, hostwinds.com, cloudzy.com, servermania.com, layerstack.com, hosttech.de, rosehosting.com, scalahosting.com, webgo.de, racknerd.com, locaweb.com.br, winternode.com, ionos.com, swisslayer.com, 1gbits.com, hostinger.com and ultahost.com). 119 servers have prices from sites that list providers’ plans (StackRates), not checked at the provider itself. The latest check was on 7 Nov 2026.

Contact

Write to [email protected] with questions or ideas, or if you run a hosting company and want your offers listed or corrected. Listing is free and does not depend on having an affiliate programme. To report a wrong price, use “Report a correction” on the server’s page, so the report reaches the right record.

About the name

ServerDiff is a working name. It may change once trademark and domain checks are complete; the comparison and its rules will stay the same.
