A server for forex trading

77 servers from 1 provider, from €17.82 a month. Prices checked 15 hours ago

A forex VPS runs your MetaTrader terminal and expert advisors around the clock, so trades keep working when your own computer is off. Two things matter most: distance to your broker’s trading server and uptime. Many brokers host in London and in the New York area (New Jersey), so this list shows servers in London, New Jersey, Newark and nearby cities. Ask your broker where its server is and choose the closest city. Two vCPUs and 4 GB of memory run a few terminals.

Some links may earn ServerDiff a commission. It never changes the order, which is the bill under the assumptions shown. How we rank

Latency: every millisecond between your server and the broker counts for scalping and news trading, and means little for a strategy that trades a few times a day. A server in the same region as the broker is usually enough. We list price and city, not measured latency, so ask the broker or run a ping test from a trial server.

Windows or Linux: MetaTrader is a Windows program. Most providers sell Linux servers by default and charge extra for a Windows licence, and the extra is not included in the bills on this page, which compare Linux servers. MetaTrader also runs on Linux with Wine; many traders prefer Windows for simplicity, so add the licence to your budget. Windows needs more memory than Linux: 4 GB is a sensible minimum.

Memory per terminal: each MetaTrader terminal with several charts and an advisor uses roughly 500 MB to 1 GB. Plan 1 GB per terminal plus 2 GB for the system, and raise the memory filter if you run more. Before you buy: a plan that goes down is worse than a slow one, so look at the provider’s uptime record, and keep the IPv4 address on, since brokers often allow logins from a fixed address only.
