How this index is made

What each provider charges per month for a public IPv4 address, counted as zero when it is included. Each provider counts once, with the median over its servers, so the index is the median across providers.

Price
The regular monthly list price after any introductory offer, excluding VAT and optional extras. Plans billed for several months count with their price per month. Converted to euros at the catalogue’s exchange rates of 6 Nov 2026.
Counted
The 1,527 servers with verified prices; 0 unverified ones are left out. Servers whose price was not checked within its freshness budget are left out.
Regions
Worldwide counts each server once. A region counts every server sold in at least one of its locations, so one server can count in several regions.
Published
A median is shown only with at least 3 servers from at least 2 providers; otherwise the page says there are not enough offers yet.
History
One snapshot per day (UTC), recorded from the catalogue as it was that day. Days before tracking began or without a snapshot stay empty; nothing is filled in or smoothed.
Changes
Compared with the snapshot 7, 30 and 90 days earlier, on the same kind of prices (sample or verified). A lower median can mean that providers cut prices, or only that the mix of servers changed. Prices in dollars or pounds are converted at each day’s exchange rates, so currency moves show up too.
Plans
A plan sold at the same price in several regions counts once, and IPv6-only plans are left out, because bills include an IPv4 address. A change is shown only between days that count the same providers and about as many servers; otherwise the page says what changed. Counted this way since 5 Nov 2026. Earlier snapshots counted every regional copy of a plan and IPv6-only plans; they are kept, but not shown or compared.
